DENVER (KDVR) — Multiple northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 25 near Lone Tree have reopened after a pedestrian accident occurred, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department announced in a post on X.
A man on hold at HCA HealthONE SkyRidge eloped from the building, according to the city of Lone Tree.
The man was then seen on the light rail tracks by police officers, who warned the Regional Transportation District to stop the trains. He approached the Lincoln Station light rail platform when he noticed the officers and turned around and headed back south.
The man then jumped a fence and tried to run across I-25 where he was hit by vehicles.
Officers attempted lifesaving steps before he was transported back to HCA HealthONE SkyRidge where he later succumbed to injuries, according to the city of Lone Tree.
South Metro Fire Rescue, Lone Tree police and Douglas County sheriffs are responding to the incident.
The crash occurred near I-25 and Lincoln Avenue.
Another person was transported away from the scene, non-emergent, according to the South Metro Fire Department.
Investigators are on the scene of the crash.
